Our Story
You can’t really tell by looking at our church building, but Zion Serangoon B-P Church is a church with a long history that is a powerful testimony of the LORD’s faithfulness and favour. Way back in 1955, when the Serangoon Gardens estate was largely farmland, Zion Kindergarten and the then Zion B-P Church (as it was formerly known) was birthed at 3 & 5 Tavistock Avenue in 1955 and 1957 respectively.
Since its inception, the LORD has blessed our church, enabling us to not only to grow as a community of believers, but also to bring light and blessing to many others, both in Singapore and abroad. Locally, the LORD enabled Zion Serangoon to start and participate in the Chia Keng Prison Ministry, Ling Kwang Mission (which later became the Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens) and also the planting of Bethany, Emmanuel, Cana and Zion Bishan B-P Churches between the late 1970s to 1990s.
Overseas, Zion Serangoon has also been blessed with many opportunities to plant churches, equip church workers and pastors, and provide practical aid when needed to countries like Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Philippines, India and Bangladesh, amongst others.
Today, Zion-Serangoon strives to be a vibrant, Bible-believing community that loves God and others. We continue to seek ways to reach out to our immediate neighbourhoods of Serangoon Gardens, Ang Mo Kio and various parts of Yio Chu Kang. We seek to provide the people we come into contact with a foretaste and glimpse of true Christian community, and in so doing, point them to Jesus, our LORD and soon-to-return King of kings.
Our Logo
Our church logo has 3 main elements: the burning bush, the tongues of fire and the Bible.
The Burning Bush
The burning bush reflects our Presbyterian heritage and represents God’s presence (Exodus 3:2-5).
The Tongues Of Fire
The three tongues of fire illustrate Zion’s conviction of the triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Bible
The bush is seen “growing” from the open Bible, emphasising that Zion’s growth must be rooted in the firm foundation of the unchanging, inerrant Word of God.
